Mercedez Ruiz, MA, LAC, NCC is a licensed associate counselor who received her Master’s in Counseling from NJCU. She has worked in various counseling settings including college counseling, IOP/PHP, and outpatient settings. Mercedez works with clients of all ages, from children to older adults, and utilizes a combination of cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, play therapy, and existential therapy techniques in her work. Her approach to counseling is to use humor to make her clients feel comfortable and heard. She has a multicultural mindset and strives to learn and grow as a counselor. Ensuring a safe space for her clients is a top priority in her practice. Mercedez is available to meet with clients either in person or via telehealth.
